AMY
SCHIERLE,
BIOGRAPHY
Amy Schierle is a queer interdisciplinary artist living and dreaming in the prairies on Treaty 4 Territory. She was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, where she began creating and painting at an early age, often guided by her late Oma. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Regina, with a focus on oil painting and a minor in Psychology. Her work has been exhibited in several group shows across Saskatchewan where she continues to create and explore her identity.
While primarily a painter, Amy seeks to express herself in many ways and explore different methods of creation. She has found a voice across multiple mediums, most notably oil painting, dance, photography, drawing, collage and murals. In her work she keeps her broad basis of knowledge and depth just under the surface by creating symbolic scenes. Amy seeks to poke fun at life’s ironies while bringing light to dark concepts, most notably- mental illness, femininity, grief, recovery and connection.
